The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Tobacco Prevention & Control
Program was developed April 1999 through grant cooperate agreement no.
99065. We are currently located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Our program is
designed to assess the prevalence of tobacco abuse among Oklahoma Native
Americans and Alaskan Natives. We support sacred tobacco use, and discourage
commercial tobacco abuse. Our efforts are to partner with communities
to increase awareness of the health risks associated with commercial
tobacco abuse.
SERVICES
WE OFFER:
· Training to health care providers on documentation procedures
· Assist
communities to establish tobacco policies
· Develop tobacco prevention education programs for all tribes
in Oklahoma
· Increase access to cessation classes for those who want to
stop smoking.
Our vision is to eliminate the commercial tobacco abuse
for all Oklahoma Native Americans/ Alaskan Natives & educate the
younger generation on traditional tobacco use.
